Homework

5/6
Sentence Labeling (English)--- Questions one and two should be DONE. We went through these problems on the board together. Questions 3-10 should have smiley faces by them. If they have smiley faces by them, it means I checked their answers and they are correct. If there is NOT a smiley face by the problem, the answer was either wrong or they didn't have me check it. Problems 11-20 were assigned for homework.

**** This is in preparation their upcoming test in the next two weeks. We have learned everything that is on the worksheet. I have a guide posted next to the list of things they need to label. Everything in the sentence should be labeled---except "please". Their notes would be a fantastic place for them to look for help. If notes are not available, their book also works. It is more of a hassle to dig through the book. They are able to use NOTES on the test but not their book. Keep in mind this is a unit on adjectives and adverbs. The sentence labeling focuses heavily on these two items.

There is no literature.

We finished the spelling book this week. Make sure spelling books are cleaned out (erased) and returned on Monday. We will STILL have Writer's Choice.

Homework

Sorry it has been awhile for posting...most of the homework we've done has been IN-CLASS work.

Spelling and Writer's Choice are due FRIDAY (5/6 is working on Unit 32).

The 5/6 grade began a unit on Short Stories. Tonight they should be taking home their literature journal and book and working on questions 1-5 (these should be done---or very close to it) and choosing a project from the 4 listed and working on that. I do NOT want a lot of detail. This should be a very simple assignment. I want them to connect the story to a different subject, but I don't want them spending all evening on it. As long as I can tell that they put effort into it, they'll receive a 10/10. Again---I stress--DO NOT spend a lot of time working on this. They do not have English (it was due during class). Have them spend maybe a half hour on it. The projects can be found on page 304.

The 7/8 grade is working on their research paper. The outline portion should be done by Friday. They have an English assignment (page 285). In literature we have begun a unit on Drama. They have no homework in literature.

Book report books need to be chosen by this Friday. The topic is free choice. Book reports will be DUE on May 11 (May 10 for 7/8 grade---the day before the class trip).
